PokerBonusSource.com Offers More Languages

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

PokerBonusSource.com have been offering information of poker bonuses and poker room promotions since early 2004. Since then the website has grown a lot and a number of new languages has been added to cater for the ever growing poker community. The latest addition at is the PokerBonusSource.com Latvia version and PokerBonusSource.com Czech Republic version that was added to the site just last week.

When adding new languages the people at PokerBonusSource are looking at what poker rooms are hot on that specific market and posts reviews on those poker rooms with detailed information about their poker bonuses and other cool promotions. In some cases they also offer special bonuses and freerolls that are only available to players signing up through their website.

The best poker room for players looking to players looking to play online poker in their own language is without a doubt PokerStars.com where you can set to software to a lot of languages that are not available at other poker rooms. At PokerBonusSource you can find a PokerStars Czech review and a PokerStars Latvian review that was just added together with the other language pages. In these reviews you will be able to read about all the promotions available at Pokerstars in your own language.

In the coming weeks we have been promised that another couple of languages are going to be added to the website, mainly Estonian and Lithuanian. Hopefully they will be up and running on the site sooner rather than later.

We will keep you updated on the progress.

PokerStars Lifts Ban on Justin “ZeeJustin” Bonomo

Monday, April 27th, 2009

Once banned from PokerStars, Justin “ZeeJustin” Bonomo, is apparently back at the popular online poker room. A few years back, Bonomo was first exposed at PartyPoker for registering as many as six online poker accounts and registering all six names in the same tournament. Shortly after, PokerStars revealed that he had done the same on their site. Consequently, both big-name online poker sites restricted him from playing at their online poker rooms.

But Bonomo’s dishonesty was not all that it was cracked up to be. He’s actually a great poker player, both online and off, and has since worked hard to smooth over his bad reputation and show the poker community that he’s not such a bad guy. In the past three years, Bonomo has steered clear of any misconduct and focused on overcoming the stigma that was attached to his name and re-establishing his career in professional poker.

After his exclusion at PartyPoker and PokerStars, Bonomo turned his attention to live tournaments, many of which he has gone on to win or cash big. In 2007 he placed 4th at the WSOP $2,000 No-Limit event and 2nd in the $3,000 HORSE WSOP Circuit. He went on to place 2nd in the 2008 WSOP $5,000 Mixed Hold ‘em event and has been around the block, placing at other big events such as the WPT Doyle Brunson North American Poker Classic in 2007. Bodog Poker saw the potential in Bonomo as a poker player and eventually signed him as a Team Bodog Pro.

What makes it clear that Bonomo is that he started his poker career at the mere age of 16 after emerging from the strategy game, “Magic: The Gathering,” like many other professional poker players (e.g. David Williams). He placed 4th in the 2005 French Open at only 19 years of age and had made hundreds of thousands of dollars by the time he reached 21. By 23, he was poker millionaire. The irresponsible kid that once tried to cheat the online poker system has grown into a diligent and respectable professional, so much so that PokerStars saw fit to lift the ban on his online poker presence.

Online Poker Continues to Grow in 2009

Monday, April 13th, 2009

Even though the current recession is affecting the land based casinos it seems that the online poker rooms are not being affected, at least not in a negative way. According to the numbers at PokerScout.com online poker is continuing to grow by about 30% per year. Not all of the poker rooms on the internet are doing great though, there are a couple of big rooms that are starting to see their numbers drop but this is most probably not due to the recession.

The biggest poker room is still PokerStars who recently celebrated getting their 20th Millionth customer and they are growing more and more for each day. They are now also allowed to accept players coming from Italy on their Italian site PokerStars.it.

FullTilt Poker is the second largest poker room and they are also growing on a daily basis just like the Cake Poker Network and the Entraction Network. Entraction has grown a lot lately and this is mainly due to the fact that the poker rooms that were banned from the iPoker Network, NoIQPoker.com and CarlosPoker.com moved over to Entraction. Cake Poker is growing a lot since they have taken over all the poker rooms from the old Gold Chip Network that is no longer around. But it has to be said that Cake Poker are probably also growing due to the fact that they are offering some really innovative promotions with their Gold Card system at Cake Poker and Gold Chip Rewards.

On the losing side of things we find poker rooms like Bodog Poker, Everest Poker and Betfair Poker. Bodog Poker is the biggest loser on the list and this is probably due to the fact that they have been having a lot of problems paying their US customers as they have had their bank accounts in the US confiscated several times. It also didn’t help that they lost a law suit involving their domain name and had to change it from Bodog.com to NewBodog.com and finally to BodogLife.com which is their current name.

If you take a look at the list of winners from the last week FullTilt Poker is the biggest winner when it comes to player traffic. Last Sunday they broke their own record when they hit 18.565 players sitting at the cash game tables at the same time. Even the IPN Network (Boss Media) had a good week and managed to break their old record when they had 4509 players playing at the same time at the cash game tables.

It will be interesting to see if the recession will ever get to online poker or if it will keep on going strong. It has been a couple of years now that people have been saying that the interest for online poker will die out but it has yet to happen.

Alias plyboy_binny at PokerStars buys a Porsche with his FPPs

Friday, February 6th, 2009

In January 2009 the player with the alias plyboy_binni at PokerStars used his Frequent Player Points to buy a brand new Porsche in the PokerStars VIP shop.

Hiding behind this alias is former table tennis player from New Zeeland but his real name is not made public.

In order to be able to buy a Porsche from the PokerStars VIP Shop you need to have reached the SuperNova Elite status which means that you need to have generated at least 1 000 000 FPPs during the year. This sounds like a lot of points to generate in a year but keep in mind that you will earn more FPPs the higher your VIP level is. But it is still an amazing achievment.

The total price of the Porsche is 3 000 000 FPPs when you buy it in the VIP Shop so it is not just enough to reach the SuperNova Elite status, you will need to earn another 2 Million points in order to buy the car.

This is what the happy owner of a brand new Porsche had to say about his latest purschase:

“In the end I’ve found it’s best if the majority of my friends don’t know how much I make”. “They just know that I make enough to not have to worry about buying drinks.”

If he should have too many of those drinks one day I dont think he needs to ask people twice to drive him home. With this new car I am sure they will be begging him to get to drive it.

Jason Alexander signed by PokerStars

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

It’s official! Jason Alexander is the latest addition to the Team PokerStars and is designated as its spokesperson. He will be representing the PokerStars both online as well as in the live events of this year. Yes, we all can see him in the Global Poker Tour and the World series of Poker, whilst he represents the PokerStars.

It is no news that the American actor of the Seinfeld fame is a huge poker buff. He has already appeared at various poker events like the World Series of Poker (three times), Bravo’s Celebrity Poker Showdown, NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship etc. So, he joins the club of celebrities who represent the PokerStars like Boris Becker, Mats Sundin, Orel Hershiser etc.

His online avatar will be known by the name of “J. Alexander”. As a poker fan he has taken part in many major poker events like the NBC Heads-Up Championship (2008); he was also a part of the Celebrity Poker Showdown show and is slated to appear in the Poker After Dark show to be hosted by NBC.

As we all are aware of the fact that PokerStars is the undisputed leader in the online world of poker and thousands of people across the world are logged in to its site during any given day. There is not even a single online poker room that experiences such a huge traffic of online poker players. PokerStars hosts several online poker room events like the Sunday Million online, Asian Pacific Poker Tour live and European Poker Tour.

This is what Jason had to say after his inclusion PokerStars has very graciously asked me to sign on as one of their official players, I am very flattered and happy to be playing for a real quality site and with the kind of professionals that remind me every day how truly mediocre I am at this game. But I’m learning. And now I can learn from some of the best.”

What we all can wish is “Best of luck Jason”.

If you are about to create an account at PokerStars to try your skills against Jason Alexander we would suggest that you use the PokerStars marketing code PAWSUB465 during the signup process to get a free $50 bonus.

PokerStars to set world record

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

PokerStars are aiming to get a place in the Guinness Book of Records by arranging a tournament that can take up to 35 000 players.

The tournament will be held at the 28th of December and the buy in is only $11. The prize pool is guaranteed to be $500 000 which means that even if 35 000 players should register for this tournament there will still be a $150 000 overlay.

Until now the biggest online poker tournaments have had around 20 000 players, so if PokerStars manages to pull this off they will break the old record by far which would give them a secure spot in the Book of Records. At the time of writing there are about 8000 players registered for this tournament and if you want to make sure that you have a spot we suggest that you register before the 28th of December as chances are it will be full before that once the word really gets out.

The winner of this tournament will get $30 000 and there are a total of 8750 places paid in this tournament.

If you are still not a member at PokerStars there has never been a better time to create an account. When you open your account using the PokerStars marketing code you will receive a free $50 bonus and get access to restricted freerolls.

Free $5 Bonus at PokerStars

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

It has been reported from a few players recently that you will be able to get $5 for free at PokerStars to try out their poker software. I have no idea if this works or not since i am already a PokerStars player since a couple of years back. But if you do not yet have an account i guess it could not hurt to try it out. According to this site you will need to enter the PokerStars marketing code PAWSUB465 in order to have a chance to get this free cash.

At this site it is also clearly stated that there is no guarantee that you will be offered the $5. All you can do is to sign up using this code and hope that the people from PokerStars send you an email giving you the free $5. At some forums that I read I have seen a lot of play money players being offered this free cash at PokerStars after a week or two with no deposit.

Feel free to leave a comment and let me know if this worked out for you. It would be great to know if I helped anyone get some free cash :)
