NetEller Changes Name To NEOVIA

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

The very poplular internet bank NetEller are about to change name to NEOVIA. According to the people at NetEller they are doing this in order to put the problems they have had lately behind them and they see this as a new start for the company. They will still not be able to offer their services to US as their main services are offered to help poker players fund their accounts and after the UIGEA passed they had to pull out of the US market.

There are some other deposit options for US poker players though such as eWalletXpress and Poker eChecks.

It has not yet been announced when the actual name change will happen but you can expect it to happen within the next couple of weeks.

Free $5 Bonus at PokerStars

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

It has been reported from a few players recently that you will be able to get $5 for free at PokerStars to try out their poker software. I have no idea if this works or not since i am already a PokerStars player since a couple of years back. But if you do not yet have an account i guess it could not hurt to try it out. According to this site you will need to enter the PokerStars marketing code PAWSUB465 in order to have a chance to get this free cash.

At this site it is also clearly stated that there is no guarantee that you will be offered the $5. All you can do is to sign up using this code and hope that the people from PokerStars send you an email giving you the free $5. At some forums that I read I have seen a lot of play money players being offered this free cash at PokerStars after a week or two with no deposit.

Feel free to leave a comment and let me know if this worked out for you. It would be great to know if I helped anyone get some free cash :)

Phil Ivey wins 60K pot against John Juanda

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

Yesterday I was railing the NL $500/$1000 CAP table at Full Tilt Poker. I like to watch this table since there is usually a lot of action going on.

One hand that cought my attention was the one between Phil Ivey and John Juanda. Juanda had been playing really tight for the last hours, come to think of it this is probably the first hand I saw him play.

It played out something like this….

John Juanda has the big blind and picks up 5-6 off suit. Phil ivey raises it up to $3000 under the gun and it is folded to Juanda who calls.

The flop comes 5-8-6 rainbow and Juanda raises with around $5K and Phil Ivey makes the re raise. Juanda then moves all in with the maximum of $30K and Phil Ivey calls showing 9-9 for an overpair.

The turn comes another 8 giving Phil Ivey two pair with nines and eights and is now ahead in the hand.

The river comes another eight giving Ivey the full house with eights over nines while Juanda holds eights over sixes.

This meant that Ivey could take down a nice $60K pot and Juanda lost even though he had Ivey dominated after the flop.

Durrrr vs Ziigmund at RailHeaven

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

The Full Tilt Poker regular high stakes player Tom “Durrrr” Dwan ended up winning a decent sum of money at the NL $500/$1000 table RailHeaven. It was when another known high stakes player with the alias Ziigmund sat down at the table that the pots started to get huge. In one single hand Durrrr took down a nice pot of $400 000 and ended up winning a total of $700 000 for the day. Ziigmund on the other hand ended of losing $800 000 for the day but thanks to his fantastic start this month he is still up $800 000 for the month.

It is really amazing what amounts of money are changing hands on these table and if you enjoy watching high stakes poker games i really recommend checking out the table RailHeaven at Full Tilt Poker. There is no cash game online that will even come close to the action you will see here.

There is a referral code for Full Tilt Poker that will give you a $600 bonus and entries to resctricted freerolls and that code is EASYTILT. Enter this code when you sign up and you will receive a bunch of great extras when you play at Full Tilt Poker.

PokerStars Review

Friday, October 10th, 2008

PokerStars.com is without a doubt the biggest online poker room today. They have a huge player base and it is not unusual to see over 100 000 player online. Some of the tournaments offered at PokerStars gets up to 25 000 participants and the only reason they dont get more is that there is a cap at 25K players. This is truly the poker room to be for the tournament player.

PokerStars Software

The software at PokerStars is one of the contributing factors to their success. It is really simple to navigate but it still has all the functions that you could ask for. The best thing about the PokerStars software is the fact that it is so stable and reliable, I have never ever had any problems with this software while playing and I have never heard anyone complain about it being unstable either.

PokerStars Bonus

The biggest downside to PokerStars is the fact that their first deposit bonus is not really that good. The clearing requirements for the bonus is great but a $50 bonus on your first deposit is a bit small in my opinion. But on the other hand they are one of the few rooms that can attract players without offering either rakeback or huge bonuses. They have instead decided to give all of their focus on offering the largest guaranteed tournaments online. In order to get this $50 bonus when you make your first deposit you will need to enter the PokerStars marketing code PAWSUB465 when you create your account. This code will not only give you the $50 bonus but it will also get you invited to restricted freerolls. When you make your first deposit you will also need to enter the PokerStars bonus code First2008 in order to get the free $50 credited to your account.

Tournaments and Freerolls at PokerStars

PokerStars are offering the biggest guaranteed poker tournaments online, there is no doubt about that. Their biggest tournament is a $1 Million guaranteed tournament called The Sunday Million. This tournament is played once a week and you will have to beat around 7000 players in order to take down the win.

The freerolls at PokerStars are not really that great because you have to qualify in a pre tournament in order to get to play in a weekly $100 freeroll. This system is really not that great but if you created your account using the marketing code PAWSUB465 then you will be able to sign up for the restricted freerolls with prize pools of up to $10 000, and the good thing with these freerolls is that you will not have to play against thousands of other players.

PokerStars VIP Shop

Since PokerStars are not offering rakeback they have another loyalty rewards system in place instead. Every time that you play in tournaments or cash games you will earn player points. These player points can then be used to purchase poker related items from the VIP shop and in some cases you can even trade it for cash. The more poker you play at PokerStars the faster you will earn you VIP player points.

PokerStars.com Support

PokerStars only offers support by email but I will have to say that their responce times are really great. If you need to reach them you will usually have a reply by email within 30 minutes no mater what time of the day it is.

PokerStars Deposit Options

PokerStars are accepting all the major deposit options and they also have some special payment options in place for US player such as eChecks. But most US players should be able to make a deposit using their credit card at this poker room.

Gus Hansen On Tilt at the $500/$1000 CAP Tables

Friday, October 10th, 2008

Like i have said before in the poker blog I am not really much of a railbird but after spending some time watchen the NL $500/$1000 CAP tables at Full Tilt Poker I have to say that it is very entertaining. The hands that take down the huge pots are often really crazy and i cant understand some of the calls that are made.

At the moment Gus Hansen is reall on Tilt and will probably donk off a whole bunch of money before his days is over.

I will attach two screenschots below of some hands that were played really crazy by Gus Hansen. In one of them he ended up winning $60K with KQ against AA where they were all in pre flop.

Enjoy!!

I have attached a screenshot of the hand below for those of you who dont have the energy to read the hand history (I am planning on getting a plugin to make the HH a bit more reader friendly).

There are many things i dont understand in this hand…

  • Why does Ziigmund go all in for $30 000 with 22 in a pot that is unraised?
  • Why does David Benyamine call with one player behind when holding a mediokre hand like 66?
  • What does OMGClayAiken think that the other two players have when he is calling with his AK off suit?
  • Why cant I ever win with AK against two low pocket pairs? :)

I dont usually sit on the rail and watch these games so maybe thats why i find this play a bit odd. If you have more experience and feel that they all played super great in this hand feel free to leave a comment and say that i am a retard :)

RailHeaven at Full Tilt Poker

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

It seems like Full Tilt Poker aim to please the railbirds as they recently introduced a table called RailHeaven. At this table the blinds are $500/$1000 which is by far the highest in the online poker world today. At these tables you will find all of your favourite players like Phil Ivey, David Benyamin, Patrick Antonius and many other high stakes pros.

It is not hard to understand why they named the table RailHeaven as the action on this table is really sick. It is not unusual to see pots over $100 000 and the highest pots that has ever been played is on this table at Full Tilt Poker.

This table is not for everyone however as it takes at least $50 000 just in order to sit down at the table. And i cant imagine what kind of bankroll you would need in order to actually be able to afford to play at this table. My guess is that very few of the players who are playing at this table can actually afford a really bad down period. This is probably why we see some players rise up to the sky one month and the next month he is nowhere to be found. But i am still happy that Full Tilt arranged a table like this as it attracts a lot of attention and it is really fun to watch.

If you have never tried out Full Tilt Poker i really suggest you head over there even if it is only to be one of the hundreds of railbirds watching this table. If you plan to try your luck at this poker room i would suggest using the Full Tilt Poker referral code EASYTILT as it will give you a nice $600 bonus when you make your first deposit.
